Kansas Lottery Temporarily Halts Casino Expansion

Casino News - November 27th, 2009 - Written by Glen

casinoOzark Trail Gaming, LLC, has had their request to construct, operate, and manage a casino in the southeastern corner of the state denied by the Kansas Lottery.

The State of Kansas has already seen the opening of a casino this year, and gambling expansion has been all the rage throughout the United States. In order to counteract budget deficits, many states have begun turning to new sources of gambling revenue in order to boost leniency in state budgets, but Kansas has halted their expansion, at least temporarily.

Ozark Trail Gaming's proposal was to build a casino near the Oklahoma border. In Cherokee County, this casino was going to be erected. Unfortunately for Ozark Trail, the minimum investment required by the state is $225 million dollars. The Kansas Lottery declared that Ozark Trail had not only failed to meet the required funding, but also lacks the experience to manage the casino.

Other applications are being accepted for the casino bid. Until January 19th, 2010, the casino contract for the southeastern region is accepting bidders. The casino to be built will be state-owned, though managed and funded by investors.

Thankfully for all residents of Kansas, the Best USA Online Casinos are still available for play. Despite upcoming legislation, online casinos remain legal and available to any player with Internet access, the legal age for the casino, and a USA casino deposit method.
